Niagara Gorge Trails and Schoellkopf Elevator

This stop is a great place to start a hike in the Niagara Gorge! With multiple trails and paths starting here, you can choose a flat easy gorge rim path or a more challenging hike down into the Niagara Gorge to the Niagara River.

The Schoellkopf Elevator takes you down into the gorge to the site of the Schoellkopf Power Plant ruins. As you disembark the elevator, a series of interpretive panels greet you to explain the history of the site. You can also enjoy great views of the Niagara River, hop on some trails at the water level, and take in the engineering marvels that make the iconic Maid of the Mist boats possible.

This stop has a free parking lot, and is the northernmost point on the Niagara Falls Scenic Trolley route, which you can take directly to other points in Niagara Falls State Park.
